Christmas is coming...

...and you may well have recieved a Christmas card from us with a letter pointing to this blog. I don't expect we will be posting here regularly until we arrive in New Zealand, but we may try to post something en-route. We fly from Heathrow on Monday 19th January, arriving in Singapore the following day, and then flying on to Auckland on 22 January. We are hopeful that by breaking the journey in Singapore, we will be able to smooth the adjustment of the children's body clocks to the new time zones.

There are still a few last-minute things to do (like packing), but most of the arrangements seem to be in place. We have had a lodger since the beginning of December, who will be looking after Clayton Towers in Sheffield while we are away. Importantly, I also have a letter from HR at the University instructing me to do no teaching or administration during my forthcoming study leave!

Before we leave, there is the small matter of Christmas. I am singing in the Christmas choir at church for the carol services this weekend. Then there are a couple of days at work before Catherine's parents come to stay. My family are coming over for Christmas Day, so it is going to be fun but hectic.

A family of Blogs

So this evening I have created blogs for our older children Peter and Felicity. Hopefully they will be able to keep in touch with their school friends while we are in New Zealand.
